Bering straits

Searibs UK is a well established supplier of performance ribs.  In 2011 Sea Ribs UK provided two boats for the Maurice Lacroix Bering Strait Expedition.

The boats formed the backbone of the kiteboarding and crew’s safety plan, during the expedition. The two robust inflatable boats were 7.6  and 8.6 metres long with a centre console, pilot’s and navigator’s seats. Both boats featured deep vee hulls, and powerful Yamaha engines, to cope with the extreme conditions of the Bering Strait.

The boats were shipped beginning of May form Lisbon, Portugal, to Seattle and then to on to Anchorage. The kiteboarders picked up the boats from there and continued the journey to the base camp of the expedition in Teller.

The expedition lasted four weeks, during which time the boats performed superbly well, in tough conditions.
